A training course for teachers at the Escola de Pesca began today, as part of the Capacity Building Programme of the GMAP Project – Market Access for Mozambican Aquaculture Products (MAMAP), implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Agency (UNIDO) and funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). The Fishing School is an institution of the Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries dedicated to professional and vocational-technical education for the fishing sector. The training, running from 15 to 19 April 2024, combines three days of practical field visits with two days of theoretical themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the training, the participating teachers will be engaged in various aspects related to aquaculture<\/s>, including intensive production systems for shrimp, algae, and mollusks, methods for processing and preserving aquaculture products, as well as biosafety applied in farms. This knowledge and skill set, are essential for teachers to improve the teaching and learning of aquaculture and artisanal fishing subjects at the Fisheries School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training aligns with the broader objectives of the GMAP\/MAMAP program, which is dedicated to supporting the aquaculture value chain in Mozambique. Its primary goals are to facilitate market access, enhance quality standards, and ensure compliance with sector regulations. By concentrating on the aquaculture value chain, known for its significant potential, MAMAP aims to accelerate the growth and sustainability of this vital industry for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
